*_Re-Form: Healthcare and Education for Tomorrow_*
_Molly Ivins said, “The reason they call it reform is that you have to do it over and over again.” What if reform weren’t a periodic and traumatic experience in schools and healthcare institutions? What if it were a perpetual, iterative learning engagement for everyone at all levels of the organization? HSD clients in Canada and the US have tried this new approach to reform, and they’re finding it transformative. In this session, we will share two case studies where adaptive action reforms reform into organizational learning and action._

In this session, we will share two case studies where adaptive action reforms reform into organizational learning and action._

In this session, we will share two case studies where adaptive action reforms reform into organizational learning and action._

HSD Magic 21

by Royce Holladay
In HSD, we believe that three conditions in the system shape the speed, path, and direction of self-organization--they shape the patterns that emerge in the system. In her ground-breaking research, Glenda Eoyang named these conditions as Container, Difference, and Exchanges. For thorough desciption of these conditions, please see visit the "CDE page":http://wiki.hsdinstitute.org/cde of this wiki.

The HSD Magic 21 is a way of using the CDE to focus in on particular patterns in your system as you engage in "Adaptive Action":http://wiki.hsdinstitute.org/adaptive_action. The HSD Magic 21 is a way of using the CDE to focus in on particular patterns in your system as you engage in "Adaptive Action":http://wiki.hsdinstitute.org/adaptive_action.

In the "What?" phase of Adaptive Action, the Magic 21 helps you see specific conditions that are shaping patterns of your wicked issue.

In the "So what?" phase of Adaptive Action, the Magic 21 helps you consider the impact of each conditions and identify informed, wise action to influence your patterns.

In the "Now what?" phase of Adaptive Action, the Magic 21 helps you take action, focus your attention as you watch for change, and move you into your next iteration of inquiry.

The attachment below offers a specific protocol for working through a Magic 21, and includes a specific example of how it can be used.

We think it will be emergent nodes of human and other resources brought together to meet a particular need. Competencies in this new workplace will support individual and collective Adaptive Action. Re-Form: Healthcare and Education for Tomorrow
Molly Ivins said, “The reason they call it reform is that you have to do it over and over again.” What if reform weren’t a periodic and traumatic experience in schools and healthcare institutions? What if it were a perpetual, iterative learning engagement for everyone at all levels of the organization? HSD clients in Canada and the US have tried this new approach to reform, and they’re finding it transformative. In this session, we will share two case studies where adaptive action reforms reform into organizational learning and action.

Organizing for Work: CAANs and Project Management for the Future
In the 80s, work was a place, a title, and a regular paycheck. In the 90s, it was a computer, a team, and a regular paycheck. In the 10s, it is a computer, tasks and deliverables, and invoices for services delivered. What will work be in the next decade? We think it will be emergent nodes of human and other resources brought together to meet a particular need. Competencies in this new workplace will support individual and collective Adaptive Action. This session will explore and help you prepare for this world of the present/future.

How can you turn the talk about simple rules into action to build productivity and sustainability for your organization? This session gives solid tips and traps to help you make simple rules an effective part of your organization’s culture.

Agile Organizations: Setting Conditions for Self-organizing
The Agile software movement launched a revolution in information technology design, development, and implementation. Over time, though, the revolution has gotten stuck in traditional habits of thought and practice. Even more important, the movement has been stymied by user communities that hold tightly to old processes and management methods. In this session, we will review the simple rules that drive agile patterns in the world of IT and explore how those same rules might revolutionize organizational partners.
